Two young men were killed early on Sunday when a Volkswagen carrying Vidit Olak, the nephew of singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, and Aarav Talwar hit a parked tractor-trolley on a flyover in Jalandhar, Punjab. The tractor-trolley had been parked on the flyover for municipal cleaning work.

What police say happened

The accident took place near the Police Lines area, and police were alerted around 3 am, according to Baradari police station SHO Sahil Chaudhary. He said Municipal Corporation sanitation workers were cleaning the flyover and had parked the tractor-trolley on the road to collect garbage.

The Volkswagen was travelling from BMC Chowk towards BSF Chowk when it hit the stationary vehicle. The two friends were reportedly on their way home from a birthday party when the collision happened.

Who died in the crash

Vidit Olak was the son of Dinesh, who owns the Punjabi music label Speed Records. Aarav Talwar was the son of the owner of Pappy Sweets. Both men died in the crash, while the other three people in the car had already returned home, the police said.

The sources do not identify who was driving the Volkswagen or explain why it struck the tractor-trolley. They also do not say that police have made any arrests or filed charges in connection with the crash.

What happened after the collision

Police reached the scene after being informed and took the bodies into custody. The families later declined to pursue further legal action, after which police handed the bodies over to them.

Honey Singh also confirmed the death of his nephew in an Instagram story. His post made the accident a personal loss for one of Punjabi music’s best-known singers, while reports also described the crash circumstances and identified the two victims.
