Apple unveiled new M6 versions of its 24-inch iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro on October 28, with preorders opening the same day and sales due to begin on November 6. The refresh matters because the desktop gets a bigger generational jump, while the laptop keeps its familiar shape but arrives at a higher price in Slovakia.
Same design, faster chips
The iMac still comes as a 24-inch all-in-one with a 4.5K Retina display, seven colour options and the same thin look as before. Apple says the M6 model can be up to 50% faster on selected productivity tasks, twice as fast in graphics and five times faster in on-device AI work, although those numbers come from the company’s own tests and have not been independently checked.
The desktop now supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple offers a 10-core version and a 12-core version; the higher-end model includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of two and can be ordered with 2.5-gigabit Ethernet. The base configuration still starts with 256GB of storage.
The MacBook Pro gets M6, but not a redesign
Apple's 14-inch MacBook Pro also moves to the M6 chip, replacing the previous M5. The new processor has 12 CPU cores and 12 GPU cores, and Apple says graphics are up to 30% faster, on-device AI tasks are about 25% faster and some coding or rendering jobs are 20% to 30% faster.
The notebook keeps its 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 120Hz refresh, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI and a memory-card reader. Apple also says the maximum stated battery life remains 24 hours, while Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 join the spec sheet.
Prices vary sharply by market
In Slovakia, the base 24-inch iMac starts at €1,829, according to the local price listing, while the higher configuration is priced at €2,029. The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at €2,349 there, up from €2,249 for the previous model with the same memory and storage.
Apple's US iMac prices are listed in dollars, with the iMac starting at $1,499 for the 10-core model and $1,699 for the 12-core version. In Vietnam, the 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at 54,999,000 dong, while local sale timing has not yet been announced.
