Square Enix said Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold will arrive on February 23, 2027, after IGN reported the expansion had been due in January. The announcement came during the opening keynote of Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo, where producer and director Naoki Yoshida also introduced new job details and the expansion’s full trailer.

Pre-orders begin in November

Pre-orders for Evercold and the previously announced Collector’s Box open on November 4 at 9 a.m. GMT. Square Enix said the Collector’s Bundle will be available in limited quantities through its own store, while players on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and other supported platforms can buy the box on its own and pre-order the digital collector’s edition separately.

The company also set early access for February 19 at 9 a.m. GMT, though it described that timing as tentative. In the same announcement, Square Enix said Final Fantasy XIV Online had passed 35 million registered accounts worldwide.

Zephyr joins the roster

Yoshida used the keynote to reveal Zephyr, the second of two new jobs coming with Evercold. Square Enix described it as a physical ranged DPS that fights with a crossbow and the avian familiar Nephele, adding to a launch lineup that also includes Bastion, a new tank job.

Square Enix also previewed a long list of expansion features: a new raid series tied to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, a crossover trailer for Evangelion: Ghosts of Desire, new 8-player battle content, and a new difficulty tier called Fierce, positioned between Normal and Savage. The company said Evercold will also bring Evolved Combat Mode, a Seasons reward system, expanded character creation, Character Action Skins and broader housing, PvP and companion chocobo updates beginning in Patch 8.1.

The Tokyo keynote also marked the full-length trailer for Evercold, and Square Enix announced pre-order details. For players, the immediate change is simple: the expansion is now dated, early-access timing is tentative, and the wait runs four weeks longer than the January launch window IGN said had been in place.
