Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 at Mestalla on November 7, 2026, in the 12th round of La Liga. The win put Madrid on 30 points, level with leaders Barcelona, who were scheduled to visit Atlético on Sunday; Madrid were second and Valencia remained 19th on nine points.
Three goals extend Madrid’s winning run
The match paused in the ninth minute for a tribute to Jesús de Miguel, a Tenerife player who had died earlier that week after a collision with an opponent. Valverde opened the scoring in the 28th minute, hitting the rebound after Mbappé’s free kick struck Valencia’s wall.
Güler made it 2-0 eight minutes later, finishing after Jude Bellingham’s cross from the left deflected off Pepelu. In the 75th minute, Güler set up Mbappé, who went around the goalkeeper to score. It was Mbappé’s seventh consecutive match with a goal; he had 13 league goals and 17 in 16 appearances across all competitions that season. The result gave Madrid an eighth straight win in all competitions.
A foul-heavy game ends with a red card
Valencia captain José Gayà was sent off in the 79th minute for bringing down Mbappé as the last defender. Valencia committed 26 fouls, a season high, compared with seven by Madrid.
The decision that preceded Madrid’s first goal was also disputed. Valencia defender Maffeo said the foul was not a foul and called for the referee to be fair; he later apologised after the final whistle. At halftime, security staff intervened in a tunnel argument involving Bellingham, Rüdiger and Maffeo. Valencia sporting director Braulio was also present.
In his match report, referee Hernández Maeso said Braulio confronted the first assistant referee and repeatedly addressed both the assistant and the referee in an agitated tone. The report said police had to restrain Braulio and move him away to end the incident.
After the match, Madrid coach José Mourinho said his players had stayed calm rather than respond. He attributed Valencia’s approach to frustration at facing what he described as a much superior Madrid side.
